The Bystander Project:
The Power Of You
Every 7 minutes a student is bullied in a school setting.
85 % of the time peers are present and no one intervenes
The Bystander Project: The Power Of You is a student lead presentation dedicated to student empowerment in bystander intervention. The presentation opens the discussion to engage and empower the bystander in the bully/target dynamic in the school setting. The Power of You presentation seeks to engage the bystander through understanding of the nature of bullying and the role of the bystander. This is accomplished through a visual presentation, through student role playing and student discussion.
This presentation will not stop bullying in your school. NO single presentation can do that. Only a comprehensive climate change program that is implemented with adult commitment and fidelity will help to reduce peer mistreatment(bullying, harrassment, intimidation) and create a school climate where ALL(including adults) feel accepted and valued.
Adult committment and support is essential to the success of students intervention in peer mistreatment(bullying, harrassment, intimidation). More information to come about this program.
